Efstidalur begann als Bauernhof mit Schafen und K\u00fchen. Der Hauptzweck der Landwirtschaft war das \u00dcberleben in dem rauen isl\u00e4ndischen Klima. Alle Produkte des Hofes wurden verwendet, um die Familie zu ern\u00e4hren und dem kalten Wetter zu trotzen. <\/p>\n

In den Jahren 1702-1712 erstellten \u00c1rni Magn\u00fasson und P\u00e1ll V\u00eddal\u00edn f\u00fcr die d\u00e4nischen Beh\u00f6rden ein detailliertes G\u00fcterverzeichnis, in dem die Lebensbedingungen in Island untersucht wurden. Das Register enth\u00e4lt einen Bericht \u00fcber die Landressourcen und den Viehbestand des Hofes von Efstidalur zur Zeit von Einar Narfason. \u00c1rni und P\u00e1ll erstellten diese Aufzeichnung 1708. <\/p>\n

Das t\u00e4gliche Leben auf der Farm war gepr\u00e4gt von harter Arbeit und Selbstversorgung. Die wechselnden Jahreszeiten bestimmten den Rhythmus des Lebens auf dem Hof. Die langen Sommer wurden genutzt, um Heu zu ernten und einen Vorrat an Lebensmitteln anzulegen. Die harten Winter erforderten Widerstandsf\u00e4higkeit und Geduld, um auf freundlichere Temperaturen zu warten. Es ging nur ums \u00dcberleben. <\/p>\n

Schlie\u00dflich ver\u00e4nderte das Aufkommen moderner landwirtschaftlicher Techniken das Leben auf dem Bauernhof im 20. Jahrhundert allm\u00e4hlich. Die Arbeit wurde effizienter. Damals war der Bauernhof immer ein Ort der W\u00e4rme, der Tradition und der isl\u00e4ndischen Gastfreundschaft. Ein Erbe, das auch heute noch lebendig ist. <\/p>\n
