Location

Efstidalur Cottages is a self check in property. There are two houses labelled 2 and 4. You will receive your personal check in code for your stay which is valid from 16.00 of the check in day and 11.00 of the check out day.

The cottages are located on a seperate road labelled Efstidalur cottages. Please do not go to Efstidalur 2 restaurant and farm when trying to go to the cottages as they have a separate road leading off from the main road 37.

Hot Tub 

There is a geothermal hot tub located on the property. There is a constant flow of water in and out of it, it does not have to be emptied or refilled and does not contain chlorine.

As it a geothermal tub the water contains sulfur. Sometimes it leads to white flakes of sulfur or a slightly sulfur smell. This is normal and not harmful in any way,

The temperature is fixed at 39 degrees celcius and can not be adjusted. 

Do not smoke in the hot tub or go in under the influence. Instructions are also located on the wall next to the hot tub. All use is at your own risk.

 

BBQ Grill 

There is a gas bbq grill outside for you to use if you wish.

Open the gas valve on the gas bottle and ignite using the knobs on the grill.

Should you need more gas or any other help with it, feel free to contact us.

 

What to do at the farm

Homemade Ice Cream

Choose your favorite flavor from our homemade ice cream. We produce the ice cream in our dairy kitchen. The window from the ice cream bar provides a nice view of the stable with our beloved cows.

Horse riding

Explore the region around the farm by horse, Icelandic horse. We offer a variety of tours with different levels and lengths. You can even visit Brúarfoss by horse. Please note that horse riding is only available during the summer months.

Brúarfoss

One of your Golden Circle stops should be this blue gem, found in the backyard of our farm. It’s beautiful year round and very photogenic. You can visit easily from the farm by car or by hiking.

Farm to table

Taste true local products from Icelandic soil in our farm-to-table restaurant with cows. Enjoy lunch or dinner with fresh food while watching the cows from the window. Find the Efstidalur menu on our website.

What is the check-in and check-out time?

• Check-in: You can check-in from 14.00 until 20.00 in the evening. If you are arriving later, please contact us. We will arrange a self check-in for you.

• Check-out: The time to check-out is 11.00 in the morning.

Do the rooms have Wi-Fi available?

Yes. We have free Wi-Fi available in all our rooms and restaurant area.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, no. Although we are a farm, we do not allow pets inside the hotel or restaurant areas for hygiene reasons.

Is there a hot tub?

Yes. There’s a communual hot tub on site. Free to use for all hotel guests.

Is breakfast included?

If you book directly through our website, breakfast is included. If you book through a third party (Booking.com, Expedia, etc.) breakfast is not included.

Can I park my car?

Yes, there’s a large parking lot on site.

How can I get to the farm?

There’s no public transport in our area. You need a private transfer or rental vehicle to reach our farm. You can access our farm with any type of vehicle. There’s no need for a 4WD.

Can I request a twin room?

Yes. All double rooms can be made in a twin room on request.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes. We can provide a baby cot on request.

Do you have roll-away beds?

Unfortunately, we don’t have roll-away beds in our hotel rooms.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Cancellation is free up to one week in advance. If you decide to cancel one week or shorter before your reservation, we charge the full price.
